總統馬英九與中國大陸國家主席習近平預定7日在新加坡會面，消息於前天深夜曝光，菲國華文報紙今天持續在頭版刊登相關消息。
菲律賓「世界日報」社論指出，兩岸關係在國民黨執政下逐步發展，後來進入瓶頸，此時兩岸領導人見面，「有助於強化政治互信，鞏固多年來取得的成績，並為今後兩岸關係發展指明方向」。
這篇題為「習馬會具有劃時代意義」的社論也提到，兩岸領導人在南海議題甚囂塵上之際會面，將對解決南海問題以及「保護老祖宗遺產」，起一定的作用。
菲國的世界日報，與聯合報系的世界日報沒有關聯。
另4家華文報紙沒有刊登馬習會相關評論。
華文媒體對馬習會的報導多為正面，顯示傳統僑社對此樂觀其成，但台商則因政治立場互異而有多元看法。
至於菲國主流英文報紙，如馬尼拉公報、菲律賓每日詢問者報、菲律賓星報以及馬尼拉時報，除引用外電報導馬習會消息，並無專欄作家發表評論。1041105
